Three film credits

 All openings credit scenes have the same purpose, which is to give cxredit to the poeple who worked on the film. Usually this includes the director, actors, producers, writers and editors. Films can show the credits in different ways, some use creative sequences, others keep them very simple so they don’t take the attention away from the film. 

The notebook

The opening credits appear over images of nature, like water and sunlight. The slow pace, soft music, and warm colors create a romantic feeling. The credits are simple and blend into the story instead of standing out. This credit sequence prepares the audience for an emotional love story.

Me before you

The opening credits are also simple and appear during scenes from Lou’s everyday life. The bright colors and music contrast with the serious themes that will come later. This helps show Lou’s personality and optimism, and also makes the audience connect with Lou early.

Titanic 

The opening credits play over dark underwater shots of the Titanic wreck. The slow music and sad visuals create a serious tone. The credits feel vert emotional and not exciting. This credit sequence tells the audience that the film is about loss, memory, and tragedy, not just romance.

Opening scenes are very important because they are the first impression that the audience is going to have about the movie. They usually introduce the genre and the main characters. 

The notebook

The film starts in a nursing home, where an old man reads a love story to a woman.     The opening feels very calm and lovely. This shows the movie is about love and memory. Soft lighting and slow pacing create an emotional mood. Starting at the end of the story makes the audience want to keep watching to find out the rest. The opening prepares viewers for a sad but romantic story focused on feelings.

Me before you

The opening shows Will’s happy life before his accident and Lou’s daily routine.The opening shows their personality and how their lives work. The strong contrast between their lives helps explain their relationship later. The accident early in the film shows the emotional conflict. The audience should feel empathy for both characters and understand how emotional the story is.

Titanic

The movie opens with people exploring the Titanic wreck and meeting an older Rose.

The opening shows that the story is about memory and loss, which is not a surprise because the audience already knows that the ship will sink. This makes the love story more emotional because the ending is already known.

 Being rersposible with time management is essential for this project to work. That’s why I am creating a timeline.

Portfolio project genre 2

 While I am planing my portfolio project I have been thinking about the thriller genre as a possible option. Thriller films are made to keep the audience tense and curious, which makes them good for a short film opening. The idea of making the audience feel nervous from the start really interests me. 

The thriller genre focuses on suspense, mystery, and danger. These films usually give the audience limited information, which makes them keep watching. This can be very powerful in a two-minute opening where grabbing attention is important.

Atmosphere is also very important in thrilers. Things like lighting, sound, and camera angles are very important in setting the mood. Dark lighting and quiet and sounds can be used to create tension. I am interested in trying these techniques.

The thriller genre sounds good to me because it would make me to think a lot about every shot, sound, and edit. I believe thriller could be a strong choice for creating an engaging film opening.

Portfolio project genre 1

Now that I am starting to plan my two-minute film opening, one of the most important choices I need to make is the genre. After researching a lot, I am thinking about choosing drama. This genre feels like the best one for me because it allows me to focus on emotions, characters, and realistic situations.

The drama genre usually focuses on character development, especially how a character changes over time. Many dramas show characters deal with loss, mistakes, or difficult experiences. These stories often feel powerful because they remind me of real life.

When researching drama films, I also looked into how they are filmed. Drama movies often use close-up shots to show emotions clearly. These shots help the audience understand what the character is feeling without needing dialogue. 

Choosing drama as my genre feels like the right decision. It allows me to focus on emotion, character, and storytelling while using film techniques. I’m excited to continue creating this idea.

Hi Cambridge!

From now on, my blog posts will be about my main portfolio project, which is creating a two-minute film opening that I will plan and produce by myself. This project brings together everything we have learned so far in this class. It is a chance to show what I have learned during this year.

To begin the transition to this project, my class learned about film openings and why they are so important. A good opening helps introduce the story and the audience’s attention.

One approach I am thinking about using is developing context and background. I like this approach because it helps the audience understand the world right at the start. This approach can also work with many genres. Another approach I am interested in is developing character. Focusing on a character at the start of the film can help the audience connect with them. This approach allows me to work with costume, setting, movement, and dialogue

While this project it is challenging, it is also exciting to finally create something of my own. I’m looking forward to developing my ideas and seeing how my film opening will turn out.
